The state is filled with fall festivals every week and they are definitely worth the trip. Here is a list of fall festivals to attend in Maine and where to find them.

Family Harvest Days

Family Harvest Days are held in Boothbay, Maine on the first weekend of the month of October. You can watch several awesome demonstrations like butter-churning, bread baking, blacksmiths, and much more. Kids can take advantage of the petting zoo and feed the goats and other barnyard animals, while listening to farmers talk about what it was like to take care of animals in the past and how it’s different nowadays. There are several artisans who you can watch work throughout the day, such as quilters or the blacksmith. If you see something you like, you can purchase it from them. Don’t forget to take part of the hayride to the pumpkin patch to pick your own pumpkin. Consider staying at a Boothbay Harbor bed and breakfast to enjoy all the other attractions in the area during the fall season.

Wolfe’s Neck Farm Fall Festival

Located in Freeport, Maine, Wolfe’s Neck Farm Fall Festival is held on October 8, 2017. The festival is hosted by a nonprofit farm celebrating the fall’s bounty. There will be live music, local food vendors, and a petting zoo. Kids can take a tractor ride to the pumpkin patch, have their face painted, or climb on bales of hay. All the proceeds from this festival go toward educational programming.

Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village Harvest Festival

The Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village Harvest Festival is held in New Gloucester, Maine on October 8. It’s Shaker Village’s end of the season Harvest Festival featuring apples picked from the Shaker orchard. You can purchase apples or products made from the apples like applesauce, apple cider, apple pie, and much more. Chipman’s Farm will have plenty of their bounty available as well, so you can grab some houseplants, seasonal mums, and other late season bloomers. There are also plenty of demonstrations to participate in such as knitting, weaving, wool spinning, and wood carving. Kids can enjoy free wagon rides and face painting, while adults can enjoy the live bands.

Sunday River Annual Fall Festival Weekend
The Sunday River Annual Fall Festival Weekend is held in Newry, Maine from October 8 through October 9, 2017. There will be live music, the annual New England Corn Hole Championship, wine tasting, and the annual Blue Mountain Arts and Crafts Fair.
