If you are in business, you know that it’s important to say “thank you” to your customers. But don’t stop there. It’s also important to show appreciation to employees, coworkers, suppliers and others. Your employees will be happier, more loyal and more productive, and your suppliers will go out of their way to provide good service.

Listed below are three ways that your employees can participate in the Note Project. Be sure to tell us about the results on our Your Notes page or at info@noteproject.com. Your notes will count toward our goal of 1 million notes — and we always have space in our blog and newsletter for great stories (and photos!) about employee and customer appreciation.

BTW, your company can be a sponsor of the Note Project simply by telling your employees about the project. There is no cost to be a sponsor, and there is no cost for employees to participate. See the Sponsors page for more information.

Option 1: Get Your Team Involved

  • Go to your team or department and propose that the entire group participate in the Note Project.
  • Set a deadline (one week is good for a small team) and ask each member of your team to pledge to send at least one note of appreciation by the deadline. The notes can be to customers, clients, vendors, coworkers in other departments, or to each other.
  • At the deadline, follow up to see how the team did. And be sure to let us know how you did, too!

Option 2: Get Your Team Focused

Follow all of the same steps from Option 1 with one change: as a team, pick one person or organization, and have everybody on your team send a note of appreciation to that person/organization. You’ll make that person’s day – maybe even their whole year. And again, tell us about the results!

Option 3: Get the Whole Company Involved

It’s also possible for an entire company to participate in the Note Project. Here’s what we recommend:

  • Contact your company’s human resources or corporate communications department. Suggest that the entire company participate in the Note Project.
  • Set a deadline (a month is good for a large organization) – or better yet, designate a specific month to be “Note Project Month” or “Appreciation Month” at your company.
  • Set a realistic participation goal. No matter how good an idea is, it’s unlikely that everybody will participate. So set a realistic goal…90%, 75%, 50%…whatever feels right for your company.
  • Establish a way to track participation. We can track it for you if your employees fill in the optional “company” information when they Pledge to Send a Note on the Note Project website. Or you can track it via a simple form or your company intranet or in an e-mail.
  • Provide employees with tips and friendly reminders about sharing appreciation. Feel free to use any of the content from the Note Project website, or contact us at info@noteproject.com for additional help.
  • At the deadline, tally up the results and let us know how you did! We’ll feature you and your company in the Note Project blog or newsletter and inspire others to follow your great example.

This is a heart-warming and inspiring message and a very noble effort. Thank you for reminding us that we should never be too busy to reach out and touch the lives of others.

Dear William: Thank you very much for the encouraging words — and thank you for agreeing to help spread the word about the Note Project as a sponsor. Welcome!
